Lil Bub dead

RIP.

Lil Bub, a famous cat from the Internet, has passed away.

She was eight years of age.

Bub was born with several genetic mutations and suffered from osteopetrosis yet overcame these issues to become something of a modern-day Internet celebrity.

At the time of her death, Bub had cultivated a large social media following, with 3 million followers on Facebook, 2.3 million on Instagram and over 827,000 on Twitter.

Along the way, she worked with luminaries such as Oprah Winfrey, Andrew W.K. and Run the Jewels.

Bub’s passing was officially announced by her “dude” Mike Bridavsky on Sunday, who hailed “the purest, kindest and most magical living force on our planet”.

“BUB was cheerful and full of love laying in our bed with us Saturday night, but unexpectedly passed away peacefully in her sleep,” said Bridavsky.

“I have always been fully transparent about BUB’s health, and it was no secret that she was battling a persistent and aggressive bone infection.

“Even knowing this, we weren’t expecting her to pass so soon or so abruptly without warning.  I truly believe that she willingly made the decision to leave her failing body so that our family would not have to make that difficult decision ourselves.”
