Oh mate.
Friday saw Channel 4’s Deal or No Deal game show leave its normal studio confines to take place at the Trafford Centre in Greater Manchester. Noel Edmonds and company are currently filming the programme in various different locations on a sort of national tour to freshen things up a little.
But it wasn’t the novel surroundings that caught the attention of the viewers at home. Rather it was the somewhat stereotypical appearance of one of the contestants that got people talking. It seems they didn’t need to be told that the episode was being filmed in the Manchester area – it was all too apparent.
Steve was the focus of attention – and amusement – as a painfully obvious local of a city famous for football, music and a very particular look. Wearing a peacock coat buttoned up to the top, a bucket hat over thick layered hair, and tinted sunglasses indoors, he looked like something of a Mancunian parody.
