Mariah Carey is a big fan of the Irish hockey team singing ‘All I Want For Christmas’ at their homecoming

It takes a lot to impress Mariah. But she was impressed by this.

Hostel spokesperson and occasional song-singer Mariah Carey is a big fan of the Irish hockey team singing her massive hit ‘All I Want For Christmas Is You’, with our personal favourite bit being that the sing-song happened mid-heatwave, in early August.

Well, there are already Christmas shops opening – four months ahead of the big day – so we guess this is almost timely.

The Irish hockey team returned on Monday from a simply unbelievable World Cup campaign, having made it all the way to the final and only losing out to multi-World Cup winners the Netherlands.

In case you missed it, here are the scenes from their homecoming, which took place on a completely shut down and filled to the rafters Dame Street in Dublin, as thousands upon thousands of fans welcomed home our latest sports heroes.

And trust us. They are SCENES.

And guess what? Word got back of the public performance to Mariah, and obviously the sight of thousands of folk singing her song got her feeling all warm and fuzzy.

Maybe this will be enough to finally convince Mariah to actually do a gig here? Forget Gareth Brooks, because THIS is the five nights of shows we all really want…
