The new McDonald’s lunch menu promises lighter lunch alternatives for summer 2019.

On 26 June, McDonald’s will be introducing five new permanent items and their variants to its menu. Expect new and improved recipes, with some old favourites thrown into the mix.

An old classic, the McDonald’s Bacon Roll is set to make a comeback. It’s made from three rashers of bacon on a sourdough-style bun with a choice of brown sauce or ketchup.

A new and improved chicken salad is to be introduced which gives customers the option of crispy (265 calories) or grilled (133 calories) chicken.

‘The Hot Cajun Chicken One’ will be a new addition to the wrap range. It’s made from crispy chicken breast strips or grilled chicken with a Cajun sauce, Pepper Jack cheese, tomato, jalapeño slices and lettuce in a soft, toasted tortilla wrap.

Maybe best of all, the Smarties McFlurry is back by popular demand!

It’s not just the McDonald’s menu that’s getting a revamp this summer. All single-use plastic is set to be removed from McDonalds’ salad ranges and McFlurry packaging from 26 June onwards.

This means main and side meal salads will be served in 100% sustainable and renewable cardboard container.

McDonalds predict removing plastic bowls, salad cups lids and McFlurry packaging will result in a combined 485 metric tons of plastic removed annually.

All items will be available from McDonald’s Ireland restaurants, McDelivery and Drive-Thrus from 26 June 2019.
