It doesn’t really matter where you were yesterday…

As long as you were on the island of Ireland then you were feeling the heat. Once in a lifetime heat. The kind of heat that most us aren’t even built for.

On Saturday morning, Met Éireann released a full breakdown detailing which of its weather stations recorded the highest temperatures on Friday.

The Banner County had the best of it yesterday, with Shannon Airport recording a whopping maximum temperature of 31.1 degrees Celsius. The rest of the West also had it pretty good, with Gurteen in Sligo recording the second highest temperature of 30.1.

The entire top five was rounded out by stations in Mount Dillon, Athenry and Newport — all of which saw temperatures of above 29 degrees.

It was still a scorcher in Dublin, but the capital didn’t have it quite as sweet. Phoenix Park clocked in a maximum of 24.1 degrees and Dublin Airport could only manager a measly, pathetic 23.3 degrees.

A full breakdown of Ireland’s hotspots for yesterday was published on the Met Éireann Twitter account.

Saturday is shaping up to see the heatwave continue, and a hot weather warning has been issued that will remain in effect until 10pm on Saturday night.
