Do NOT try this at home.

To fully understand why people are, for whatever reason, blowing up the microwaves in their homes because of a tweet, we first need to go to Japan. Last month, this video was released and has since gone viral (over 2 million views and counting), which shows you how to take a normal ball of tin foil and turn it into a perfect shiny ball. Clip via SKYtomo It basically involves getting some normal tin foil, and putting a hammer to it, and then some polish. Quite why anyone would actually WANT a perfectly shiny ball of tin foil, we're not 100% sure of, but we'll leave that question for another day. However, in the days that followed the video going global, someone took to Twitter to make the following claim: https://twitter.com/Badoodled/status/980640331350925312 And guess what happened next? Yep. A whole load of microwaves caught fire. https://twitter.com/WoodinNYK/status/980896248499789830 https://twitter.com/sehzadeselin/status/980915380809097217 https://twitter.com/foreignwilmer/status/981043135361957893 In case it wasn't clear already, you should NEVER put any kind of metal in to your microwave, even if someone on the internet told you it would give you a shiny tin foil ball at the end.
