We might have to wait a bit longer for Pokemon Go to reach Ireland

The wait goes on

It’s no exaggeration to say Pokemon Go has been absolutely massive since its July launch.

The augmented reality app, which allows players to go looking for Pokemon in their own neighbourhood, has become so popular that servers have crashed on more than one occasion.

In order to tackle the issue, developers are holding back on launching the game in Ireland.

According to Business Insider, the planned European rollout has been ‘paused’ due to the unprecedented demand, and is unlikely to come to any more countries until the server issues are completely taken care of.

Australia and New Zealand were the first countries to experience the game, with an American rollout coming not long after, but we’ll have to wait a little longer.

John Hanke, CEO of developer Niantic, told Business Insider that further launches would be “paused until we’re comfortable,” with no Irish release date set.

“We thought the game would be popular, but it obviously struck a nerve,” he added.

Gamers across the globe have been sharing their Pokemon Go screenshots, and we’re anticipating more of the same as more people discover the game.

While we might have some time to wait for official access to Pokemon Go on this side of the Atlantic, there have been reports of some people using workarounds to access the game from Ireland.
