Pretty decent return on the old scorecard, this.

Tralee Golf Club has been honoured once again, this time named as one of the 30 most beautiful golf courses in the world.

The spectacular County Kerry links places 7th in the comprehensive rundown, trailing only behind courses in Mauritius, Dubai, Japan, Spain, the Maldives and France.

As for Tralee, “the setting represents a true paradise for those willing to take on the challenge, at what is widely acclaimed as one of the most famous links courses in the world,” according to the Golfscape team behind the list.

The course was designed by one of the great names in golf, Arnold Palmer, in 1984.

It has been immortalised by Hollywood, too, with the first and second holes of the course playing host to the beach scenes in the 1970 film Ryan’s Daughter.

Golf enthusiast Bill Murray is a noted fan, also, having described Tralee as the single most beautiful course he’s ever played on.

Elsewhere on the list, you don’t have to go too far for an especially picturesque round, with Castletown Golf Links in the Isle of Man taking the not-too-shabby 28th spot.

1. Sperone Golf Club, France

2. The Villingili Golf Course, Maldives

3. Finca Cortesin, Spain

4. Niseko Village, Japan

5. Emirates Golf Club, Dubai

6. Heritage Golf Club, Mauritius

7. Tralee Golf Club, Ireland
