Partners, are you feeling the pinch?

We love a good night out in Ireland. We’re even willing to guess that you and your significant other have got one planned at some stage in the very near future.

And why wouldn’t you? They’re great craic. You’ve worked hard all week in work, and you have every right to treat yourself.

But as it happens, in Ireland, they’re not cheap. Not cheap at all.

A recent statistical analysis of data has found Ireland to be the third most expensive country in the EU to go out in.

Over 390,000 people contributed to a piece of analysis based on the world’s largest database of user contributed data about cities and countries, Numbeo.

The findings show that an average couple in Ireland should expect to pay €180 on a night out.

The items topping the cost list were: dinner at a restaurant (€60), a baby sitter for 5 hours (€53) and drinks (4.5 for €30).

And then you’ve to take into account the taxi home…

the only EU countries that are more expensive than Ireland were the Netherlands (€220) and Denmark (€202).

At least there’s something in the world that we’re better at Denmark at.

We can think of quite a few better ways to spend €180.
