No plans for the long weekend? Here are 5 great events to choose from

Comedy, music and more

JOE

The long weekend is finally here and we’re pretty excited.

We’ve a big long list of things we want to do, but unfortunately we haven’t quite mastered the skill of being in two places at once. So you lot will have to let us know how amazing these events are.

Here’s 5 brilliant things to do this weekend, with thanks to Amstel Radler.

Ham Sandwich in Dublin

Olympia Theatre, Friday

Kell’s finest are playing the Olympia Theatre this Friday and after a rousing reception for their third album ‘Stories From The Surface’ we’re expecting a great gig.

They were recently in for the Sunday Sessions and it was absolutely brilliant.

Rubberbandits in Cork

The Everyman Theatre, Sunday.

Fresh from a sold out jaunt in the Abbey, Limerick’s finest bag wearing bandits are set to rock up to Cork’s Everyman Theatre this Sunday.

For those of you unfamiliar with the Rubberbandits work, firstly welcome… it must be strange no longer living under a rock. Secondly, go to Cork Sunday.

The bandits will make you think about the world, as they tuck their socks into their trackies.

Cat Laughs festival in Kilkenny

Various venues, all weekend.

Some of the biggest names in comedy are coming to the marble city this weekend for the Cat Laughs Festival. The event, which is in its 21st year, is one of the best little comedy festivals on the planet.

This year’s line-up is as stellar as one would expect, with Jack Dee, Jon Richardson and Romesh Ranganathan all performing.

Comic Aid

Forbidden Fruit in Dublin

Royal Hospital Kilmainham, all weekend

Forbidden Fruit has carved out a reputation as one of Ireland’s top festivals and this year is going to be no different. Fatboy Slim and Wu Tang Clan are just a couple of the top class acts set to rock out in Kilmainham hospital.

Slane 2015

Meath, Saturday

Slane is back and it’s bigger than ever. Foo Fighters are headlining this Saturday’s gig, but the rest of the line-up is equally enticing. Kaiser Chiefs, Hozier and The Strypes are also on the billing.

It’s going to be a good weekend.

This event guide was brought to you by Amstel Radler. Amstel Radler is a refreshing mix of Amstel Beer and Cloudy Lemon. It’s double the refreshment and only 2% alcohol.
