The 2016 event is expected to be the biggest since Pieta House first launched Darkness Into Light in 2009.

Suicide and self-harm crisis centre Pieta House has officially launched this year’s Darkness Into Light event, with over 120,000 people expected to turn out in 120 locations across the globe on the morning of Saturday, 7 May.

Christchurch in New Zealand and Abu Dhabi are among the new venues for the dawn walk that has done so much to raise vital funds and awareness for Pieta House, which is in its tenth year as an organisation.

Registration for Darkness into Light supported by Electric Ireland is available online now at www.darknessintolight.ie.

“We’re very grateful to the communities across Ireland and abroad for your continued support to Pieta House,” said Joan Freeman, founder of Pieta House.

“Your courage, vision and generosity have contributed to bringing hope to thousands of people every year and has led to the phenomenal success that is Darkness Into Light. As Pieta House celebrates its tenth year, you can be very proud of what you have achieved.”
