Petition launched to save The Old College Bar in University College Cork

They’re not ready to let it go without a fight.

The Presidents of the UCC Student Union, the UCC Societies Executive and the UCC Clubs Executive have launched a petition in an attempt to save The Old College Bar on the UCC Campus after it was announced that it will be closed. The petition follows a letter that was addressed to President of University College Cork, Dr. Michael Murphy, calling for a reconsideration of the decision taken recently by the University Management Team Operations (UMTO) to close a bar that has been on campus for 30 years. The UCC Students’ Union expressed their disappointment at the lack of consultation or awareness extended to the Students’ Union when taking the decision to close The Old College Bar, which they labelled “an important aspect of our university’s social and cultural history as well as an indispensable service and facility used by Societies, Clubs and student organisations on campus”.
