Are you lucky enough to live here?

More important than being a nice or safe or affordable place to live, what the real goal you want from your address is for people to read it and think to themselves “Oh, that is a cool place to live.”

Time Out Magazine has put together their list of the 50 Coolest Neighbourhoods In The World, and one Irish suburb has managed to make the cut.

(drum roll please…)

Coming in at No.27 on the list, this is how they’ve sold Phibsborough to the readers:

“Since a new tram line arrived last December, the outlying village of Phibsboro (also spelled Phibsborough) has become more bustling than ever. Dilapidated Victorian buildings are suddenly filling with modern cafés and charming shops.

“Like nearby hipster hub Stoneybatter before it, the additional infrastructure signals that a revival is on the horizon, with former residents like the writer James Joyce adding to the neighbourhood’s allure, and arts and community organisation Phizzfest hosting regular theatre, literature, comedy, music and film events and discussions throughout the year.”

They’ve also picked out some highlights of the area, including the best places to get food (brunch at Two Boys Brew), to get a drink (Back Page), thing to do (stroll along the Royal Canal and wander to Blessington Basin park), and place to stay (Charleville Lodge Hotel).

In case you’re interested, here are places that fill out the top ten:

Embajadores, Madrid

Euljiro, Seoul

Nueva Villa de Aburrá, Medellin

Metaxourgeio, Athens

Princípe Real, Lisbon

Strasbourg-Saint-Denis, Paris

Neukölln, Berlin

Yanaka, Tokyo
