PIC: An Post delivered this letter containing only a nickname and the name of a town in Roscommon

Conor Heneghan

Was it Father Damo that sent it?

Eircode was introduced last summer in an effort to make the Irish postal system a little more sophisticated, but in reality, who needs something like that when An Post are so good that all they need is a nickname to ensure a letter is delivered to its rightful owner.

Alan Freeman’s full address is Knockroe, Castlerea, Co. Roscommon F45 XP85, yet the letter below made its way to his house despite not even mentioning his name, the first line of his address or the Eircode at the end.

frosty

‘Frosty’ must be a popular character down Castlerea way.

You didn’t think we were going to mention ‘Frosty’ without getting in a Father Ted reference did you?
