Pic: Canadians are ‘Spocking’ their bank notes in honour of Leonard Nimoy

A brilliant tribute

Eoghan Doherty

The tradition has actually been around for a number of years.

Following the sad news that Leonard Nimoy passed away last week, it seems the actor is still living long and prospering in a particularly unique way, as Canadians are ‘Spocking’ their $5 bank notes in honour of the Star Trek legend.

Drawing Spock’s distinctive eyebrows and hairstyle over the face of former Canadian Prime Minister Sir Wilfrid Laurier is called ‘Spocking Fives’, and is actually a tradition that was started back in 2012. There’s even a Facebook page dedicated to the art.

Joining Barack Obama, astronaut Terry Virts in space and countless others in paying tribute, this is a very simple, but very effective way of honouring the magnificent man.

Live long and prosper…
