PIC: Ice-cream van on a Derry beach forgets about the tide coming in…

It’s like a real-life version of the Roddy Doyle book… Kind of.

We’ve been blessed with a few scorchers in Ireland over the last few days, which means that pasty white people across the island have swarmed the beaches and kept the 99 industry afloat for another year running.

Speaking of ‘afloat’, one ice-cream man ended up getting so carried away serving his delighted customers that he failed to notice the tide come in on Downhill Beach in Derry yesterday.

Photos surfaced of a huge group of people trying desperately to extricate the poor van from the water but it doesn’t look like they had much success.

A reminder for everyone to keep their wits about them, no matter how hard the sun might make it…
