On Valentine’s Day yesterday, men and women throughout Ireland took the opportunity to wax lyrical about the object of their affection and express just how much it means to have them in their lives. Expressions of romance weren’t limited purely to human interactions, however; despite there being no chance whatsoever of having the sentiments returned by an inanimate beverage, one Irish man’s ode to his favourite drink is one that will be hard topped. If cider is your tipple of choice, then you’ll no doubt be nodding your head at the feelings expressed by Tim Shiels here; the poem at the end is the coup de grace.
