With the news of a keyboard that's specifically designed for emojis, it seems that this form of communication is here to stay and will only grow stronger. I wonder if people will start answering their English Leaving Cert paper with "Macbeth is a a :( protagonist because...". Shudder.
You may have one friend that's so skilled in their use of emojis that it's like a second language to them but not everyone is as knowledgeable when it comes to the appropriate way to use the animated characters.
JOE reader Dermot Dolan sent us in these screengrabs of a family Whatsapp group that he's in and in his own words "my mam has always tried her best to keep up to date with the latest trends, even going so far as downloading Snapchat.
"But the use of emojis is something she still hasn't gotten a grip on. So, in a recent conversation on our family WhatsApp, she says that she struggles to understand what some emojis actually mean, and my sister does her best to show what they mean. I couldn't help myself but laugh reading the conversation they had".
Fair play to her for staying tech savvy but one of the messages couldn't help but make us laugh.
Cheers to Brendan Dolan who sent these pics our way. If you have a photo, video or story you think we'd like, send it to us on Twitter, Facebookor editorial@JOE.ie.
