PIC: This Mayo man has a convincing excuse not to meet up with his girlfriend this weekend

You gotta do, what you gotta do…

Many believe that the song ‘It’s the Most Wonderful Time of the Year’ was written exclusively about Christmas, but very few people realise that Andy Williams originally performed a different version of the song which celebrated the wonders of the silage season in Ireland*.

*Alternative fact.

In all seriousness, the silage season is serious business in Ireland and anyone with a partner who works in the busy summer industry will be unlikely to see hide nor hair of their significant other while the good weather lasts.

If you’re driving around rural Ireland, you’ll know you can expect to be greeted with an uncountable number of tractors, harvesters, balers and mowers as the silage season hits full swing.

We reckon the below will be a familiar sight around the country for anyone who knows someone working at grass this summer…

If you enjoyed that you should check out the video below in Tipperary, where Dunphy’s Agricultural Contractors were making silage earlier this year.

There’s something very soothing about watching silage being made…

While we’re on the subject of farming, it’s impossible not to bring up this brilliant Tinder profile from a while back…
