We have to say we thoroughly enjoy when a keyboard warrior gets put in his place, which is what happened one offensive Tweeter today.
The broadcaster and academic Mary Beard was subjected to a vile tweet earlier today and the Cambridge professor quickly retweeted the comment to name and shame the perpetrator.
What made it even better was that someone who clearly knows the Oliver Eric Rawling’s family, offered to intervene by bringing the tweet to the attention of his mother, which quickly softened his cough. We’re sure she wouldn’t be overly proud.
Beard has said that exposing trolls is the best tactic, later tweeting “It is a tough call. I have increasingly opted for name and shame. It has to be outed. And maybe his friends can say ‘stop’.”
Rawlings has offered his apologies and said he has learnt a valuable lesson and hopefully it may deter others from acting in a similar manner.
