PIC: Newlyweds shock wedding guest by sending note asking for more money as wedding gift

Conor Heneghan

A bit cheeky, no?

The issue of how much money to give as a gift at a wedding is often the source of much discomfort amongst wedding guests in Ireland and elsewhere.

In most cases, if the newlyweds are unhappy, they keep it to themselves.

That’s not always the case, however, as was evident when a wedding guest took anonymously to the Mumsnet forum to tell of a response she received from a couple whose wedding she attended and who weren’t exactly happy with the gift she gave.

You can see the post in full below, but this is an excerpt from the forum post detailing the response of the couple to receipt of a cheque for £100 (approximately €125).

“We were surprised that your contribution didn’t seem to match the warmth of your good wishes on our big day. In view of your own position, if you wanted to send any adjustment it would be thankfully received.”

The guest in question confessed to being “utterly gobsmacked” by the response and unsurprisingly, she received plenty of support from other posters in the forum.

What would you do if you got a note like that one?

Cheers to the girls at Her.ie for this one.
