PIC: Primary schooler from Finglas writes a new Proclamation of The Irish Republic that will warm your heart

Carl Kinsella

This kid has got his head screwed on right.

Given the year that’s in it, plenty of primary schools will be teaching the kids about the importance of 1916 and the Proclamation of the Irish Republic.

One young lad from Finglas by the name of Jack was asked to write his own as part of an exercise in school, and it seems that he was incredibly inspired by the efforts of Bressie, the #Anyone’sBrother movement and the family of Caoilte O Broin.

Here is Jack’s re-imagining of the Proclamation, 100 years on. His mum helpfully typed it out on her Facebook beside a picture of his work:

And before anyone suggests young Jack is excluding anyone by saying ‘European’ relatives should be welcome in Ireland, we’re going to remind you he is seven years old – and that it’s far more likely that he simply has European relatives that he’d like to be able to come live with him.

Thanks to Shelly Doyle for sending this one our way.
