Pic: Reporter for E News duped into believing obviously fictional reports of Kim Kardashian and Kanye West’s activities in Ireland

Ah here, this is taking gullible to another level altogether.

Ah here, this is taking gullible to another level altogether.

Unless you’ve been living under a rock for, well, most of the day today, you’ll probably be aware of the fact that Kim Kardashian and Kanye West are believed to be somewhere in Cork at the moment, having come here for a honeymoon after getting hitched in Florence at the weekend.

As far as celebrities go, they don’t come much more A-list than Kimye, so the level of interest in what they might be up to from celebrity and entertainment media outlets worldwide, and particularly in the States, is pretty high.

Now, considering that Kim and Kanye did film that ridiculous video on the motorbike for Kanye’s song Bound 2 we wouldn’t be surprised by anything they get up to, but thinking that they actually did some of the things that people were speculating about on Twitter today is taking it a little bit far… or so you’d think.

Obviously keen to latch onto any reports of Kimye’s activities in Ireland, Katie Durocher, an intern at E News (just the 2.38 million followers on Twitter so they’re kind of a big deal), began responding to some tweets suggesting that, for example, Kim and Kanye were in an Aldi in Grange and taking down election posters outside Dungarvan.

In fairness to Katie, she obviously didn’t grasp the sense of humour at play here, but it didn’t take her long to realise as she subsequently deleted the aforementioned tweets. This being the internet, however, there was always going to be screengrabs…

In fairness to Katie, she got in on the joke herself a little later and sought to explain herself, so unfortunately, we don’t think she’ll believe us when we tell us her that Kim and Kanye will be heading to Coppers when they’re in Dublin later this week before returning as guests of honour for the Ploughing Championships in Laois in September.

Hat-tip to David Parsons and to the girls at Her.ie for their help with this one
