PIC: The Ploughing Championships from the sky above Screggan

Tony Cuddihy

The sheer size of it.

We have Day One of the Ploughing Championships in Screggan, County Offaly and the Irish Air Corps have given us this incredible birds’ eye view of proceedings.

With 1,500 exhibitors from at home and abroad and more than 300,000 people expected to attend the three-day event, plenty of space is needed and they’ve really got it.

If you are going, wear comfortable shoes – over 25km of walkway panels have been put down.

The weather is expected to be fine on Tuesday, although rain is expected in the Tullamore area from Wednesday onwards.
