PIC: The price that this Irishman was charged for a pint of Guinness in Singapore is absolutely outrageous

Colm Boohig

Eye-watering stuff.

Let’s not get too smug here, because the price of drink in Ireland is extortionate as it is. However, this is taking the piss altogether.

JOE reader Jamie Ratcliffe is out in Singapore at the moment, where he recently ordered a pint of Guinness in the Irish pub, McGettigan’s Bar.

He got an awful shock when the cost of the pint, after tax and service was taken into account, came to this staggering amount.

Guinness pint Singapore

Yes, you read correctly. That’s $18.24. Eighteen Singapore dollars and 24 Singapore cents. For one pint.

What has the world come to?

Worryingly, Jamie told JOE that that’s not even the most expensive pint of the black stuff in Singapore, with the same order at the country’s airport setting you back a cool $30, according to Jamie.

In case you’re wondering, as we were, the price in the picture above comes to just shy of €12.

It sounds a little better that way. Still though, madness. Just madness.
