You don’t see this every Saturday night in Ireland.
Kevin Griffin drives a taxi in Carlow town at the weekends and last night he saw something pretty unusual, so he told JOE about it.
”Last night, while working, I saw something that I genuinely couldn’t believe. So much so, that I had to take a spin back around town to take a picture.”
Good heavens, Kevin. Being a taxi driver at weekends in a busy town, he must have seen his fair share over the years, so what could possibly have startled him so much?
”I saw a man casually out walking his dog (fairly normal), but also his raccoon.
”Yes, at 11pm last night a man was strolling through Carlow town with his pet dog and pet raccoon.
”I have actually seen it all now.”
Kevin has since elaborated that the animal in question is a raccoon dog, which begs the question; is it a raccoon or is it a dog?
After further research, the results were largely inconclusive. Either way, we just like to imagine that the raccoon(-like) really wanted to go out last night and convinced his owner to allow him tag along… at 11pm… on a Saturday night.
Class.
We’ve since been contacted by somebody who has inside info on the raccoon. Apparently his name is Solomon. Lovely name.
