PIC: This Athlone hotel has really raised the bar when it comes to evening snacks for wedding guests

A genius idea

Eoghan Doherty

You know the drill.

You’re at a wedding anywhere in Ireland, it gets to around 11pm and the evening snacks are rolled out; sausage rolls, a few triangular sandwiches, cocktail sausages. Bacon baps if you’re really lucky.

The Hodson Bay Hotel has really raised the bar when it comes to providing tasty evening snacks for wedding guests though, as the following Facebook pics prove.

Sinéad Stack, who works at the Athlone hotel, told us that the bride, Ciara Rigney, specially requested that all the wedding guests be presented with these ingenious Tayto crisp sandwich self-assembly kits.

In case you can’t see the pic of the crisps, bread and butter clearly, the sticker on each kit says:

Crisp Sandwich (The Bride’s favourite) Just assemble & enjoy xxx

Tayto crisp sandwiches

The self-assembly kit even caught the eye of the big man himself, who fully approved of this new wedding wonder.

This has got to be the crispiest wedding ever! Thank you to the spud who sent this in ?

Although this was a once-off for this particular wedding, Sinéad tells us that, due to the immense popularity of the snack, the hotel is now considering offering it to more couples in the future.

A great idea.

Congratulations of course to Ciara and Philip on their very special day, but even bigger congratulations to all of the wedding guests who obviously won at life due to that crisp sandwich craic we mentioned earlier.

Thanks to Sinéad Stack of the Hodson Bay Hotel who gave us the heads up on this.
