PIC: Following the great weather, this Dublin off-licence looks like something out of the apocalypse

Eoghan Doherty

It seems socialising in the sun is very thirsty work…

We’re enjoying some fine weather up and down the country at the moment and, as a result, you’re once again wearing those weird three-quarter length trousers your mam bought you in 1997, along with the sunglasses you got off that weird Frenchman for €3 and a “hug”.

People are also taking the time to enjoy some refreshing drinks with friends, so it’s no surprise that off-licences and bars have seen a massive increase in trade.

Sure just check out this pic of The Barge in Dublin yesterday. Rammed.

It seems The Barge wasn’t the only spot to see a rise in custom during the fine weather though, as this next pic proves.

Sent in by JOE reader Peter Fahey, this was the apocalyptic scene spotted in the off-licence next door to the pub itself.

As soon as the sun poked his sunny head out, all that was left on the shelves were four cans of Smirnoff Ice and a few non-alcoholic beers…

Were people looting!?

The place was decimated. Absolutely decimated. And this was a sight that was no doubt replicated in shops all across the country.

Sun shines, people be thirsty.

Remember, if you are enjoying some boozy beverages during this weekend, please do drink responsibly.
