Brooklyn-based artist James Haggerty loves Star Wars and staples in equal measure…or at least we think that he does, anyway, judging by the amazing mosaics that he’s made of some of the movies’ most iconic characters.

Haggerty’s pieces are clearly works of love, as he told The Metro that each one takes up to six months to complete, using a whole big pile of staples in the process, up to over 33,500 per portrait, which is a serious amount of work.

He uses a black background for the pieces in order to add some shading (and reduce the workload a tiny bit) while the rest is made up of multi-coloured staples that are all done by hand, using a stapler that James has had for years to create all his mosaics.

It certainly is a fair amount of work, but the pretty amazing results are well worth it, in our opinion.
