The weather has had an impact.
General Election 2016 turnout looks to be at a little over 60% nationwide at first glance, down some 10% from the general election in 2011.
That percentage is roughly equal to the marriage referendum from last year.
One of the main theories for the decrease in voting numbers this time around is the poor weather conditions across the country.
The early figures have brought a mixed reaction from people on Twitter.
