Ah here...
Nobody likes getting clamped and unless you harbour a particular dislike for a certain individual or they are blatantly breaking the law, on the whole, it's not something you like to see happen to other motorists either.
The clampers in Dublin are notorious for being on the ball when it comes to catching cars parked illegally or without pay and display, but we never knew that they'd go to these great lengths.
As spotted by Gearóid Mac Cormac in Parnell Square in Dublin, it seems that nobody is immune to the long
arm clamp of the law...
We would advise the owner of the vehicle not to attempt to move it, the clampers look like they mean business.
So if you like to dice with death with pay and display, it was revealed last year that the worst spots for clamping in Dublin are as follows:
- Ormond Quay Upper
- Mespil Road
- Burlington Street
- Wolf Tone Street
- Waterloo Road
- Merrion Square West
- Molesworth Street
- Gardiner Street Lower
- Earlsfort Terrace
- The National Maternity Hospital
In June this year, a number of changes to regulations regarding the clamping of vehicles in Ireland came into effect.
The main provisions provided for under the Vehicle Clamping Act of 2015 include the following:
- Regulation of clamping and related activities
- Establishment of a two-tier appeals process to hear appeals against clamping or relocation
- Provision of appropriate signage in places where clamping is operated
- Setting of maximum clamp release and vehicle relocation charges
- Establishment of a code of practice
- Provision of necessary enforcement and investigative powers to investigate and prosecute any alleged breaches of regulations made
