PICS: This pub in Cavan has installed an outdoor beach for the Bank Holiday weekend

Now all they need is the sunshine.

Although it’s been uncomfortably warm and humid at times, the summer of 2016 has only delivered the odd cracking day here and there, when you’d rather nothing more than a trip to the beach.

Seeing as the county has no coastline, the people of Cavan have to travel outside their borders to access a beach anyway, or at least they did until the Fáilte Bar solved that problem for the people of Bailieborough this weekend.

On Friday, Saturday and Sunday, visitors to the bar will have access to a beach in the smoking area, a beach that comes with a hot (inflatable) tub, loads and loads of sand and a few buckets and spades for good measure.

As you can see, a lot of work has gone into it and it certainly looks the part so anyone looking for summer vibes in Cavan on the last long weekend of the summer knows where to go.

Just remember, it might be a beach, but it’s not appropriate to wear Speedos (it’s never appropriate to wear Speedos).

Cheers to Claire Tiernan and Kieran Donohoe for sending this our way. Got a story for JOE? Hit us up on Facebook or Twitter, send it to our WhatsApp number 087-4001102 or mail [email protected].
