PICS: The Buckfast mojito has arrived and you can get it in a pub in Galway

Buckfast

There are more expensive and arguably more sophisticated wines on the market, but there’s no doubt that Buckfast has a special place in the hearts of the people of Ireland.

Particularly popular with college students, a bottle of ‘Bucky’ is a staple ingredient in many an Irish person’s social life and though many would scoff at drinking it any other way than straight from the bottle, a new Buckfast-inspired beverage has arrived in Galway that will whet the appetite of connoisseurs.

McGettigan’s in Eyre Square are now offering Buckfast mojitos as part of their cocktail menu and we’d wager that Buckfast fans will be suitably impressed by what it looks like at least.

If Buckfast isn’t your thing, but Drumstick lollipops, a favourite amongst Irish children growing up in the ‘90s are, then McGettigan’s also have something to appeal to that particularly large market.

Excuse us while we digest these developments for a moment…
