Pics: The Glasnevin chipper that turned into Valentine’s central on Friday night

That's amore.

JOE

Well, they did it.

Macari’s Takeaway in Glasnevin held their Valentine’s Night dinner for three lucky couples last night, all the while keeping hungry passers-by going with their regular fare.

The menu on the night looked pretty good to us…

Starter

Beef arrabiata meatballs with fresh basil and mozzarella

Warm goats cheese salad

Bruschetta with tomatoes & basil

Main Course

Lightly battered fillet of fresh cod

Fillet steak marinated in balsamic vinegar and red wine

Baked Irish salmon with steamed asparagus

All mains come with a selection of vegetables and chunky chips

Dessert

Lush chocolate flake cheesecake

Affogato (Vanilla ice-cream with espresso on top)

A post on the chipper’s website read:

“What started out as a fun idea turned into a great night. We got tons of emails looking to reserve a table for the night but unfortunately we could not close the whole takeaway and could only cater for 3 couples.

“The 3 lucky winners we picked were Anna, Lizzie and Robert. We put a lot of effort into the night and it was great to see our guests enjoy themselves. Fm104’s Chris Barry and Crosse rang in for a live chat with us and our guests.

“They were plenty of onlookers taking photos from outside and all the customers saw the fun side of it and some looking to book a table for tomorrow night!!

“The night gave us a good feel of the difference between fast food and a restaurant. It’s definitely a tough business to be in. At times there were scenes from a Gordon Ramsey show in the kitchen!”
