Pics: The new VW Passat goes on sale in Ireland and it’s looking pretty slick on the streets of Dublin

Take a number and get in line because we want the first one…

The new eighth-generation Volkswagen Passat has officially gone on sale here in Ireland.

The new car, which boasts a brand new design, new engines and a rake of new tech, has a starting price of €27,295 for the 1.4-litre 125bhp TSI petrol model in saloon.

Pricing for the diesel range starts at €28,940 for the now more powerful 1.6-litre 120bhp TDI version.

If you’ve got a few kids, pets, or are looking for a bit more junk in the trunk, then the estate model starts at €29,225 for the 1.4 125bhp TSI and €31,200 for the 1.6-litre 120bhp TDI.

So that’s the spec, what about the looks?

Well, we could sit here writing about how the new 8th gen Passat looks seriously cool,is nicely refined and incredibly eye-catching, but we’ll let the pics do the talking…
