Definition of the heebie-jeebies…

Did you know that the persistent fear of wasps is called Spheksophobia? Just don’t ask us to pronounce the damn thing.

If you are one of the many who suffer from a persistent fear of these devilishly tricky little blighters, we urge you to look away now, because it may give you nightmares.

An absolutely massive wasps nest was found in the loft of an empty space in Pipewell, UK and it’s one of the scariest damn things we’ve seen.

A nest this size could have as many as 10,000 wasps inside and grew when the property was left unoccupied for several years.

Pest controller Gary Wilkinson, of Northamptonshire pest controllers Pest Professionals, who found the nest, said to Boing Boing: “It’s an impressive wasp nest alright – much bigger than a barrel. Normally we get called in at the first sign of wasps causing a problem to people.

“This community has been allowed to go about its business undisturbed for a whole summer season. Although you wouldn’t want it in your own loft, you have to say it’s a very impressive and in its own way a very beautiful thing.”
