Pics: This plane’s emergency slide inflated mid-flight in America

That’s not what the air hostess said during the in-flight safety message…

We’re not sure about you but JOE has had the “wouldn’t it be great craic if we could get off the plane using that emergency slide” conversation on 90% of flights we go on with friends. It looks so soft and bouncy but remember it is there for a reason, our safety in case of an emergency.

The passengers on a United Airlines Flight between California and Chicago on Sunday almost got to find out just how soft and bouncy the slide was after it inflated mid-flight.

Slide 1

The flight had to divert to Witchita in Kansas, where emergency crews were waiting. A passenger speaking to ABC News said: “”The captain made an announcement that we’re gonna land in Wichita. “He said, ‘Don’t worry about the emergency trucks, it’s just standard procedure.’”

Slide 2

It was obviously a pretty terrifying experience for all the passengers but thankfully everyone exited, unharmed, on a portable stairway.

Hat-tip to our best friends at Her.ie for the story.
