PICS: This pub in Carlow had an epic Christmas party…in July

Paul Moore

It’s never too early.

The 12 pubs of Christmas is still an established yuletide tradition in Ireland but there’s no denying that December’s most famous pub crawl has encountered a bit of a backlash in recent years. We know that people are looking for a bit of craic, but are they really being that original, bold and daring if there are thousands of other people doing the same on the exact same night?

The patrons at O’Loughlins’s bar in Carlow have the perfect tonic to any cynicism surrounding Christmas parties though because they’ve created a tradition that’s certain to bring a bit of Christmas cheer to their customers.

The tradition was created 5 years or so and all of these people have enough jingle balls to dress up in their festive clothes during the height of summer.

We’re told that there was Christmas themed music and karaoke but that’s not all. The organisers also raffled off a stocking full of prizes and gave away free candy canes for everyone. Buddy the Elf would be happy with all of the effort that went in to this fancy dress and a special visitor also managed to pop down the chimney.
Fair play to all involved, take a look.
