Pics: Would you wear these frankly amazing Adidas adizero f50 boots?

These are either the most brilliant or most god-awful pair of football boots we have ever set eyes upon; we honestly can’t decide.

These are either the most brilliant or most god-awful pair of football boots we have ever set eyes upon; we honestly can’t decide.

There have been some pretty controversial football boot releases of late, whether it’s Cristiano Ronaldo’s Nike ‘Galaxy’ Mercurials or the numerous, multi-coloured versions of the classic Copa Mundial boot that Adidas plan to release in time for the World Cup next year.

No football boot, nay fashion garment, has ever made such an impact on the JOE office, however, as the special limited edition Y-3 adizero f50 boot we set eyes upon earlier today.

Designed by Adidas with the help of acclaimed Japanese designer Yohji Yamamoto, each boot features what has been described as an ‘imperial lion-dog’ and according to the company line “the traditional design has been placed in the context of Japan’s modern sci-fi culture creating a spiritual connection between the past and the future.” Riiigghhht.

The boots need very little description as soon as you’ve seen them because they pretty much speak for themselves but after the likes of David Alaba and Lucas Moura among others wear them in action this weekend, you may not set eyes upon them again because only 2,000 pairs will be made and they’ll set potential customers back over £200.

Like we said, we still can’t decide whether we love them or hate them but they’re a cast-iron guarantee to bamboozle opponents on the pitch because, in fairness, who could take their eyes off these babies for a second?

So what’s the verdict of the boot-lovers amongst the JOE audience? Yay or nay?
