Superb.
The founder of Pieta House, Joan Freeman, will donate the entirety of her €65,000 senator’s salary to the charity.
Fianna Fáil leader Micheál Martin recently chose Miss Freeman for this position in the Senate and his endorsement was backed by the Taoiseach last week when he revealed his list of nominees.
In a brief statement on the Pieta House Facebook page, the organisation said that they were incredibly appreciative of this selfless gesture.”In light of her very welcome recent appointment to Seanad Éireann, the staff and volunteers of Pieta House, Preventing Suicide and Self Harm are proud and supportive of Joan’s decision to give the whole salary that goes with the role of Senator back to our life-saving service”.
Freeman founded the suicide and self-harm prevention crisis centre and acted as its CEO for several years.
