Shoppers rage at man’s shameless tactic to buy crate of ‘Prime’ energy drink

Amid the chaotic scenes at Aldi shops, across the UK, one man had people fuming because of his devious attempt to get his hands on as many bottles of Prime energy drink as possible.

Launching first in America, Prime Hydration became immensely popular selling out in a matter of hours when it was first available online in January.

Demand for the drink has been fuelled by the popularity of KSI and Logan Paul among teenagers and children, with the pair sharing over 50 million subscribers between them.

It comes in a range of flavours including Tropical Punch, Coconut Water, Lemon Lime and Blue Raspberry, and includes added vitamins for an extra health, feel good boost.

Asda had previously been the only supermarket chain in the UK that stocked the drink, but on Thursday morning Aldi had limited stock available for customers.

A bottle costs £1.99, and both adults and children were queueing at stores across the land on Thursday morning, prompting chaotic scenes in some stores.

The supermarket chain had imposed a limit of one bottle of each flavour per customer to combat the expected high demand.

People were left fuming at one Aldi though thanks to one customer devious plan to get his hand on as many bottles as possible.

In a post on community Facebook page Hemel Hempstead Community & Conversation, one woman said she saw a man open a load of bottles assuming that if he had already opened them, Aldi would have no choice but to let him buy them.

The woman wrote: “To the man in Aldi this morning that thought it would be a good idea to load his basket with Prime drink and open them all thinking they would sell them to you as you’d opened them.

“Shame on you. Swearing and abusing the staff as there was a limit of one of each flavour per customer.”

But his plan backfired in the end.

The woman continued: “Well done to the staff at Aldi for taking them off of him and not allowing him to buy them. Because of your greed some kids missed out.”

The shopper in question was labelled “pig of the week” by one person in the comments, with another said it was “tragic.”

Amen to that.

Many more were simply confused about why the drink was so hyped though and suggested that no one should be buying the “overpriced, overhyped drinks.”

One user said the man had actually been doing many a “favour” and that some parents need to be “having words with their kids” if they’re getting upset about a bottle of drink.

Many shoppers were also left empty-handed in the end though. The drinks sold out at many stores within minutes, with Aldi issuing an apology to disappointed customers.

“We’re sorry that some customers were unable to get their hands on this product, however, demand has been extremely high.

“We limited purchases to one of each variant per customer so that as many customers as possible had a chance to buy it.”

They did not confirm whether or not Aldi would be stocking Prime again soon.
