People perform selfless good deed for elderly man caught out in Storm Ophelia

Great to see.

Brilliant to see…

The strong winds of Storm Ophelia played havoc in many parts of the country on Monday.

Trees were uprooted around the country, buildings were damaged and some areas are still without electricity and water following the storm.

While in Dublin, the winds were less severe than down in Cork and other southern areas, there was still strong gusts and along the coast was particularly blustery.

This video taken in Tallaght shows an elderly man with a walking aid emerging from the wrong lift during the height of the winds in Dublin.

To make matters worse, it’s between two high rise buildings, which collaborate to form a kind of wind tunnel where gusts are even more severe than out in the open.

The man was clearly struggling, when a group of people who had been sheltering in the apartment blocks and the local bar came to his aid to help him get around the corner away from the worst of the winds.

The people braved the elements to give the elderly man a hand and ensure that he didn’t suffer any kind of injury in the high winds.

Fair play to all those involved…

Cheers to Danny O’Callaghan for the heads up on this one.
