Qatar Airways giving away free flights to teachers to say thanks for work during Covid-19 pandemic

A sound move for when it’s safe to travel again.

If you’re a teacher, you’ve probably been pretty busy over this past while.

Sure, you spent an extended period of time at home over the summer – and before it – but now, schools are open, kids are in them, and you’re back to work in what is probably the most challenging year of school you’ll ever face.

Elsewhere in the world, classes are being carried out remotely, but closer to home, primary and secondary school students are still showing up for class every day – and so are their teachers.

No matter the situation, things are difficult at the moment. So difficult, in fact, that Qatar Airways have decided to give teachers around the world a free round-trip plane ticket. Once it’s safe to travel, of course.

To mark World Teachers’ Day, the airline announced 21,000 complimentary plane tickets for teachers “to say thank you for their hard work and dedication to educating the world’s students”.

Teachers who avail of the offer will get a complimentary Economy Class ticket to any of the airline’s destinations around the world, as well as 50% off a future flight with Qatar Airways.

The free ticket will be available to use this year or until September 2021 – the latter being significantly more likely given Ireland’s current Covid-19 situation.

A limited number of flights are available and are currently being issued at random, so if you fancied yourself a nice little jaunt next year, you can apply for a promo code here.

And remember, you do actually have to be a teacher to claim it.
