Quality Street have announced the return of a crowd-pleaser this Christmas

We missed it a lot last year.

There was absolute outrage last year when Nestlé announced that they would no longer be hosting Toffee Deluxe in their boxes. For the first time since 1919, the sweet would be left aside and replaced by a new-age sweet called Honeycomb Crunch. Their reasoning for the Deluxe cut was largely down to customers complaining that Quality Street is too toffee-heavy but, thankfully, the Toffee Deluxe is making a triumphant return to the Quality Street box after a 12-month absence. We don't want to make you start drooling, especially because we should really get through Halloween first before we start talking about Christmas treats but it was sadly missed in the festivities of Christmas 2016. Unfortunately, the Toffee Deluxe missed out on Quality Street's 80th birthday celebrations and instead, Honeycomb Crunch got to ring in the birthday bash in the box. However, if you were a fan of the replacement sweet, do not be worried as it will remain in the tubs, tins and all other packs of the assortment this Christmas also. It's the first time that Quality Street has featured more than 12 individual sweets for a number of years. Maria McKenna, Marketing Manager, Confectionery, Nestle Ireland said: “The reaction to Honeycomb Crunch replacing Toffee Deluxe last year was incredible and, although a lot the comments were tongue in cheek, it was obvious that there is still a great deal of fondness for the Toffee Deluxe out there. “Quality Street is a brand that is all about bringing families and friends together through the love of each person’s individual favourite sweet so we are delighted to be keeping both sweets in the assortment and giving consumers even more choice, moving from 12 to 13 different sweets overall. “We are also delighted to offer traditional Quality Street tins, in three larger sizes, alongside our main 750g tub. The tubs are the same weight as last year and are the heaviest mainstream Christmas tubs on the market at a time when similar products are reducing in size across the board.” Let the fighting commence.
