Reeling in 2015 – JOE’s 10 biggest viral stories in November

Paul Moore

Remember these?

So much has happened in Irish society during 2015 that it’s easy to forget some of the biggest events and stories from the past 12 months.

The Berkeley tragedy, marriage equality, sporting highs and lows, viral sensations and Teresa Mannion were just some of the memorable moments but we’ve decided to take a look back at the year that was 2015.

Here’s what you were all reading, watching and listening to on JOE.ie in November.

10) The perils of being from Cork and having a slightly hipster profile picture

Ivor Noyek was the one of the most beloved men on the internet for one specific reason. Here’s his Facebook profile picture.

Here’s just some of the many reasons why the internet is great.

This is just the tip of the photoshop iceberg. Superb work by all.

9) Good times in the Six-One studio

Shazzer is chillin’ with Dobbo. Word.

8) Nigel Owens deals with Dan Carter in his own unique way

The New Zealand outhalf was absolutely superb in the All Blacks’ 34-17 win against Australia in the World Cup final. Racing Metro’s latest star kicked two conversions, 4 penalties and a drop goal in an impervious display but beloved referee Nigel Owens made sure that Carter kept his language in check.

We love this.

7) Rapping farmer from the Late Late Toy Show

Eminem. Drake. J. Cole. Fifty Cent. Kendrick Lamar. Nicki Minaj. Tyler the Creator. Your time at the top is over.

The Late Late Toy Show gave us a new star and his name is John.

Fionn da Small Farmer rapping on #LateLateToyShow. Jaw dropping performance.

6) Storm Barney threw this flight off course

Desmond might be more topical but Barney came first and he was a bastard. This CityJet flight from London had to abort its landing in Cork Airport after touching down, such was the ferocity of the wind.

5) A German supermarket with the best Christmas advert for 2015

Move over John Lewis. Who’s cutting onions?

4) 11 terms that you should never Google

Be honest. You searched for all of these.

no-google

3) Irish dad goes missing for a day, turns up in Bosnia at the Ireland match

William Murphy hadn’t seen his dad for a day and was starting to wonder where had gotten off to. No need to worry.

2) The hat that made all of Ireland smile

It’s the must-have fashion item this Christmas. Hilarious.

1) Paris

Despite all the tragedy and horror that unfolded in the French capital, it should never be forgotten what makes Paris so special and beloved by all. Here’s a timely reminder and a must read.
