Rent prices in Dublin get crazier as a landlord wants big money for a single room with bunk beds

We hope the tenants don't enjoy swinging cats in their spare time.

House prices

We hope the tenants don’t enjoy swinging cats in their spare time.

Anyone who sharing a house or an apartment in Dublin will probably have been hit with an increase in their rent in the last six months.

The rates are on the rise and the asking price for the quality provided is getting a bit out of hand.

Every week we see another example of it and this week’s is a room on Phibsborough Road in Dublin 7.

An advert posted on Daft is giving potential tenants the opportunity to share a “twin room” (which is really a single room) with someone for the low low price of €700.

But how would you share a single room with someone? Easy. Put some bunk beds in there and watch the money pile up.

Bunk Beds

Kitchen Daft

We’ve no problem sleeping in bunk beds in a hostel when we’re travelling but sleeping above a stranger every night after a hard day’s work isn’t exactly ideal.

You also mightn’t get a wink of sleep if you’ve ever watched the movie Step Brothers.

The average rent for a single room is around the the €400-€500 region so squeezing €700 out of one is some going.

Where will it end? The full advert is here.
