Fancy heading out for a nice relaxing road trip this weekend? Here’s a look at two great places you could head to, whether it’s with the family or out on your own.

Sometimes there’s nothing better than hopping into the car and forgetting all of life’s woes with a nice long and relaxing road trip. So JOE and MSL have teamed up to bring you two ‘Road Trip’ options that will suit all kinds of drivers; from the experienced long trekkers to the restless short stoppers.

Check out the sights and sounds of The Rose of Tralee International Festival in Kerry

The Rose of Tralee International Festival is one of Ireland’s largest and longest running festivals, celebrating a whopping 55 years in 2014. As well as the main competition that will see young women of Irish descent from around the world competing to be crowned The Rose of Tralee (check out the contenders here), there’s plenty to see and do.

The festival includes street entertainment, a carnival, live concerts, theatre, circus, markets, funfair, fireworks and the internationally renowned Rose Parade. For more on this year’s Rose of Tralee, click here.

After you’ve taken in all there is to see at the Rose of Tralee, why not take a trip around the Ring of Kerry. It’s easily one of Ireland’s more enjoyable routes and definitely one of the more scenic drives in Ireland. You won’t be disappointed.

Celebrate Irish culture at the Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann 2014 in Sligo

The Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann is Ireland’s biggest traditional Irish music festival and it goes on for over a week, so there’s no excuse to miss it. The events include performances in traditional Irish music, song, dance and culture, so everyone from the first timer to the experienced session musician will find something to enjoy at the Fleadh.

For more about the Fleadh, from directions on how to get there to the week’s line-up, head over to the official website here.

If you’re willing to take the long drive home (if you’re heading back the Dublin/Cork direction) then you should definitely take a spin down the Wild Atlantic Way which will bring you along Ireland’s West Coast. Like the Ring of Kerry, the Wild Atlantic Way is yet another one of Ireland’s most beautiful drives that you should definitely check out while the weather is still (half) decent.
