Robert Chew, the actor who played the part of the charismatic drug lord Prop Joe on The Wire has passed away today.

Any fans of The Wire out there who loved Prop Joe and his unique way of saying “true” will be sad today after learning that Robert Chew, who played the character on the show, has passed away.

The news was broken by Michael K. Williams, who played another of the show's much loved characters, Omar, on his Instagram account earlier. He will indeed be sadly missed.

Williams posted this picture under the heading "R.I.P. to the talented Mr. Robert Chew #propjoe"

This sad news is going to have us reaching for our boxset again to relive some of the great moments from his character. And if you haven't seen it yet...well then you better get watching, it's brilliant!
