A fiver could mean a lot more to someone else than it does to you…

Christmas is supposed to be the time of giving. A time where you put the happiness of others first, and think about the less fortunate.

Saint Vincent de Paul are not asking for much this Christmas, in fact, they just want a fiver.

In their new #5giveafiver campaign, SVDP are urging you to nominate five of your friends via social media to sacrifice a pint, or a snack, or a takeaway, and give the money to the homeless instead. The goal is then that the five people that you nominated, will nominate five more, and they will all give a fiver, and so on.

So far the campaign has raised €1,505, but it definitely has the potential to raise a lot more if everyone gets on board. It isn’t dissimilar to the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge, which ended up raising $115,000,000 for what was a magnificent cause.

The target set is to have raised €10,00o by the new year. Chances are you won’t miss the fiver, but it could mean the world to somebody else.

You can find out more information about the campaign here.
