Chris Evans has been named the ‘Sexiest Man Alive’ for 2022

The actor joked that the accolade will “probably be the road to the cool table which I was not at”.

Chris Evans is now officially the hottest man alive.

Captain America himself was awarded the title by People magazine on Monday night, in news that he said would delight his mother.

The 41-year-old told the publication that when he was growing up, the thought of being labelled not only attractive, but the top of the list in Hollywood, would astound him.

He joked to People: “This would probably be the road to the cool table which I was not at.”

He added: “My mom will be so happy. She’s proud of everything I do but this is something she can really brag about.

“This whole thing is tough to be interviewed about. It feels like a weird form of humble bragging.”

Evans’ mother, Lisa, told People that the whole family will be “beside themselves” over the news.

When asked whether he could see himself settling down with a special someone and starting a family, Evans said: “That’s absolutely something I want.”

He continued: “Some things you want just for you, or just for my family and my friends.”

As sexiest man, Evans joins the ranks of Dwayne Johnson, Paul Rudd, Hugh Jackman, David Beckham, John Legend and Michael B. Jordan.

Rudd won in 2021 and was equally overwhelmed by the honour, telling People: “When I think about myself, I think of myself as a husband and a father, like I’m that. I just hang out with my family when I’m not working. That’s what I kind of like the most.”

His wife was “stupefied” when she heard the news.

“But you know she was very sweet about it. After some giggling and shock, she said ‘Oh, they got it right.’ And that was very sweet. She was probably not telling the truth, but what’s she going to say?” he said.

“I’m hoping now that I’ll finally be invited to some of those sexy dinners with Clooney and Pitt and B. Jordan.”

“And I figure I’ll be on a lot more yachts. I’m excited to expand my yachting life.”
